EXCELLENT vintage condition
The cloisonné process is done by highly trained artists and the results are amazingly detailed ornaments. The artists arrange dozens of tiny cells on the ornament's copper surface, fill the cells, layer by layer, with colored enamel,then fired at high temperature essentially turning the enamel to glass. Cells are formed with small wires affixed to a copper base. The wire areas that are not enameled are then gold or silver plated. The ornament is then polished to reveal the intricate, colorful patterns.
